Phaidra National Depot, the repository for non- university institutions and projects
Since 2008, Phaidra (Permanent Hosting, Archiving and Indexing of Digital Resources and assets) has been available to members of the University of Vienna as a universit y-wide, digital asset management system with long-term archiving functions.
Now non-university institutes and projects can use this service by way of the functionalities offered by the Phaidra National Depot.
Developed by the University of Vienna, the system is set up to be used for research, teaching, and administration, as well as for studies, and facilitates the storage, documentation and long-term archiving of digital objects. All objects obtain a permanent digital signature, whereas multilingual metadata allow an accurate description of each object. The use of licenses and the re-use of objects is also possible. Research efforts are therefore made viewable, and global and transdisciplinary knowledge can be more easily transferred. Digital data are securely archived, are always available and are always ready for re-use.
